Lumpy and bumpy and biggish

0 7

Hello Friends,

No shortage of sizable waves this morning at Dee Why, but they were looking raw and messy for the most part. I’d call it head to head-and-a-bit and suitable for experienced, fit riders. It’s just too chaotic and crunchy for beginners along open stretches and better exposures like Dee Why. Plus the water’s looking just as sketchy as you’d expect on a day with a ‘Pollution Likely” warning from Beachwatch.

Swell at sea was 2.4 metres at 14 seconds (powerful) from the SSE and tide was filling in to the modest 1.3 m high at 1145. Wind was still light SW as of 0830 and it’s expected to stay that way on a day when we’re looking at a 95% chance of more showers.

Tomorrow should see the odd shower or two, but right now the rest of the week is looking like partly cloudy rather than showery. The long period stuff making things interesting today should fade out, but surf prospects should be reasonable and in the shoulder to head-high range through to about midweek.

Go well with your Sunday and know your limits!

Weather Situation

A slow-moving high pressure system lies near Tasmania. A trough extends seaward from the the southern Illawarra, and a small low may form within it through today then move gradually east, with southerly winds developing along much of the coast in its wake. Behind this, a new high is expected to extend a ridge across southeast Australia during the first half of the week, with coastal winds gradually easing as the high passes overhead mid-week.
