Fun surf possibilities

The early was the go for Monday morning. Wind was light northerly and the swell was 1.7 metres at 11-12 seconds from the SE, so although it was mostly smaller, there were occasional sets offering shoulder high sections. The lines were long, so after weeks of mostly tiny conditions, there aren’t many reasonable banks on the open stretches. Look for some structure as the fishers say. There were a few bods at the point waiting for the episodic sets. Tide hits a moderate high at 1110, so it shouldn’t be a major factor this morning.
Swell’s set to dial back as the day goes along, plus the wind will settle to the NE and lay waste to all but a few north corners.
Outlook is for the current swell period to drop back into the 6-7 second range until the weekend when we could get our next south pulse.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies along the northeast of New South Wales while a ridge extends across the rest of the state. The trough will move westwards and deepen over inland New South Wales today, extending to the south coast in the evening. A south to southeasterly change is expected to move up the coast during the midweek, with a ridge developing in its wake.
