Wind blown Wednesday

0 16

Hello Friends,

The picture above from Queenscliff very much tells the story of Wednesday. It was taken around 0900 when the wind had just gone south after blowing SW all night. At that point the swell was 1.6 metres at 8 seconds from the east, so there were waist to even chest high sets at most beaches. But quality everywhere I checked was around 3 out of 10. For sure you could get wet, but everyone was mostly sitting around during the long lulls between the gutless sets.
A quick glance at the forecast models suggests that the weak, short period mostly onshore conditions along with showery weather are on our dance card for the next week at least.

Hang in there, at least we’re another day closer to the next great swell!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is directing northeasterly winds onto the northern New South Wales coast, while a trough is bringing a southerly change to southern and central parts. The trough and southerly change are expected to stall on the Mid North Coast during Wednesday before gradually decaying. A new high is forecast to strengthen over the Tasman Sea later in the week, maintaining an onshore flow. The next trough looks set to reach the coast later Sunday or Monday.
