Waves about for the keen
Hello Friends,
Surface conditions have cleaned up this morning thanks to a wind change to the west shortly after daybreak. The Bureau says the smooth conditions won’t last too long as the wind comes around to the E-SE later. The grey skies and brisk-for-spring air temps seem to have dented the usual Saturday morning crowd numbers because there were waist plus to shoulder high sets at the best exposures. Unfortunately the swell is still dead south and the tide was swamping it. So although out at sea it was 2+ metres at 14 seconds, the waves were nothing like that big inshore.
Outlook for the week ahead is not bad. Tomorrow could be the pick day as the models tell us to expect a combo E+SE swell and light winds for the early. There should still be swell through to around Thursday with at least one of the models showing it getting into the solidly overhead range with ok wind settings for Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A trough and low pressure system north of Lord Howe Island will continue to move further east today, easing showers, winds and large waves along the New South Wales coast. A high will continue to build over the southern Tasman Sea today, before moving further east and weakening on Sunday and Monday. After this, northerly winds are forecast to increase ahead of a cold front, which will bring a southerly change to southern waters on Monday.
