Puny Sunday, go for a paddle instead
Hello Friends,
Very small this morning at Dee Why. A few folks in the water on spec, but I didn’t see any waves caught.
Weather’s “nice” in that way when it’s pleasant at the wrong time of year – a predicted high of 24 in early August is weird and likely a harbinger of things to come. Skies are mostly clear and wind was NW as of 0830. There’s about a metre of 14-sec SE swell out at sea, so maybe I just didn’t wait long enough to see a set when I grabbed the snaps. With those numbers I’d expect the occasional chest high bomb set wave face at the magnets. Beachwatch says the water’s clean and 18. Our next tide is a low at 1125.
Outlook is for a couple of days of flat to near-flat conditions. There’s the prospect of a wave of sorts on Wednesday at south magnets but the models are showing a period of 11 seconds and a swell direction that’s dead south. We shall see…

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge extends across the north, while a series of cold fronts slip through the south of the state, with a brief west to southwesterly wind change due to an incursion of a trough to the southern coastal waters. Winds will turn southerly again on Tuesday as another trough brushes the coast, with a strong high pressure system crossing the southern coastal waters in the wake. The high will then track to the Tasman Sea during the midweek ahead of the next cold front that looks set to cross the state during the latter part of the week.
