Smooth and tiny for Saturday morning

0 10

Hello Friends,

Clear skies and a brisk 9 degrees as the sun peeped over the horizon this morning. Wind was coming from the west at 8-11 kts and out at sea, the SE swell was 0.8 m at a feeble 8 seconds. Tide was coming into the 1.5 m  high at 0830. As the pictures show, it was mostly too small to even catch a wave at most places, but the crew in front of the club at Dee Why were seeing the very occasional just-barely-rideable curl, so who knows what you may find.

We’re not going to see much change on the surf front until Monday when it looks as though it will go from zero to crazy (4-7 metres!) in a matter of hours. The swell models this morning were showing the energy peaking Monday and then gradually fading through the week, but not fading to the current levels. Winds should stay SW, so there ought to be a few waves around the place.

Go well everyone!

Weather Situation

A significant cold front is forecast to sweep across the state during the weekend, then a low is forecast to form off the south coast on Sunday as the front enters the coastal waters. Vigorous south to southwesterly airstreams, together with large and powerful waves, are forecast to develop along the coastal waters between Sunday and Monday as the low deepens and moves northeast. Winds and waves are expected to gradually ease through the first half of the new week as the low moves further offshore and a high pressure ridge follows in the wake, although surf conditions will remain hazardous.
