Quiet morning at Dee Why with rain soon

0 25

Hello Friends,

Not many people in the water as of 0700 this morning. Surface conditions were looking okay thanks to the light W-SSW breeze, but the longer period swell energy of the last week has faded to about 7 seconds from the east. Swell height at sea is in the 1-2 metre range, so sets at Dee Why were in the waist and a bit range, but pretty weak.  Tide hit a 1.65 high a little after 0700 and will be back to a lowish 0.45 m at 1330.

The wind should settle to the east soon and along with it the Bureau says we’re going to get some rain – and we should see the east swell build as the day goes along. Interestingly, Beachwatch says the water looks good to them at many beaches. Tomorrow morning could see chest to maybe shoulder-head high at magnets as the period stretches into the 9 second range. Thursday morning currently looks even more hopeful on the current swell models… so, that’s good.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Weather Situation

Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds remain along the coast associated with a low pressure trough, currently off the northern coastline. On Wednesday, a low may form within the trough tending to strong winds for parts of the northeastern waters. This low will move into the Tasman Sea into Thursday, with moderate to fresh northeast to southeasterly winds remaining. Friday into the weekend will see the approach of a cold front, with winds tending from fresh north to northeasterlies to west to southwesterly by Sunday.
