Long wait but there were sets
Hello Friends,
What a difference a long period makes. Yesterday the swell at sea was 1.6 metres at 6 seconds from the SSW and it was just about unrideably tiny. This morning sees 1.2 metres at 15 seconds from the SSE and as the pictures show, that meant waves in the waist to shoulder high on sets. Of course the longer period also means we’ve gone from around 10 bumps a minute to four waves a minute. And that means really long waits between the 2-4 wave sets for the keen Saturday morning crew.
Tide was still dropping to the 0.6 metre low at 0830 when I grabbed the pictures. It’ll be back to a moderate 1.4 metre high at 1430 by which time the NE’r should be building to full strength.
It was foggy to start, so that means we’re in for a steamy one as we head to a high of 30.
The models tell us that the long period stuff will fade back to marginal again by tomorrow morning, so the plan is to pack your best waiting game headspace and head to the beach for a chance at one of those chest high sets in the 24 C water.
Have a great Saturday everyone!
