Blowing a gale
Hello Friends,
The wind blew SSW strongly overnight and then around 0700 shifted to dead south at 15-30 kts. The Bureau says it could hit 35 kts (55+ km/h) later this morning. As you can see from the pics, surf conditions at the point were pretty ordinary. Swell at sea was 3.6 metres at 10 seconds from the SSE, but nothing like that big in a semi-protected corner like Dee Why. If you look at the directional spectrum plot from MHL, you can see maybe why. There’s a fair amount of SSW energy headed away from us.
The grim surf conditions are set to continue for a few days yet, but let’s see what the Mighty Goat has to say when he rolls out his surf week look-ahead later today…
Go well with your Thursday one and all!
Weather Situation
A southerly change associated with a trough over central parts of the coast will move northwards during today. After the change moves through, southerly winds are expected to persist for several days as a ridge of high pressure develops across eastern New South Wales.
