Last day of 2022
Hello Friends,
Decided to wander down to Curly for my last surf of 2022. There were definitely waves to be had, but it was quite a challenge getting into them. That’s typical for wind swell of course. Out at sea it was averaging around 1.5 metres from the east at a shade under 9 seconds. The waves below are pretty typical of what was on offer. The wind was light inshore and only in the last hour has it begun to settle into the usual ENE-NE summer pattern. Water was beautiful and 21C.
From the look of the forecast, we can expect tomorrow morning to be pretty similar to today both in terms of wind and swell energy, in fact it might even be a touch bigger thanks to an expected period in the 10 second range and a bump up in swell size to around 2 metres. The good news is that Monday morning should be more or less the same. And, if the models have it right, Thursday could potentially be quite good for the morning session…
Have a great New Year’s Eve everyone!
Weather Situation
Southeast to northeasterly winds will persist for the coming days while a high pressure system maintains a ridge along the New South Wales coast. Meanwhile, over the southern Coral Sea a low pressure system is forecast to deepen and slowly move south during the weekend, generating a hazardous easterly swell early next week.
