Little Christmas morning waves
Hello Friends,
A weak 5-sec period east wind swell was all we had on tap this morning. It’s about 1.25 metres out at sea, but struggling to be much above the knee mark along the beach at Dee Why. Tide hits a 2 metre high at 1030 – which won’t help things either. Wind was SSW at 5-9 kts as of 0830 under uniformly grey skies. It should stay variable until early this afternoon when the Bureau tells us it’ll settle to the NE at 10-15 kts. We should see a summery 28C high today and with luck the gloomy morning will give way to partly cloudy conditions later.
Outlook is for it to remain tiny through to midweek with mainly easterly wind across the next 7 days. The models show swell starting to kick in from the east from around Thursday as it heads to a peak intensity of 2-3 metres at 11-12 seconds for what could be the better part of a week. Unfortunately the easterly wind will be in on top of it until around Tuesday.
Happy Hols to all who celebrate them and catch you again tomorrow.
Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the central parts of the coast is decaying as a high over the Tasman sea becomes dominant. This high will extend a ridge towards the state’s northeast and should remain slow-moving for a number of days, directing generally east to northeasterly winds along the coast. The next southerly change looks set to reach southern waters late Wednesday or early Thursday.
