Sunny start and a occasional little waves
Hello Friends,
Many a hopeful surfer in the water at Dee Why on Wednesday morning. Size looked to be in the knee to waist high range, but given where people were sitting, I think it’s likely I didn’t wait long enough to see a set arrive…
Swell was a shade under 1.4 metres at 8-9 seconds and coming from the SSE. Wind was light and WNW at 0800. The Bureau says it’ll stay light but swing around to the SE at lunch time. Tide was high at 0705 and will hit low at 1445. Weather should be partly cloudy with a high of 23C. Water’s clean and still 20C.
There wasn’t a significant change to the long range forecast models overnight. We’re still facing small to near flat from around the weekend onward to Weds-Thrs or so. At that point the models show a reasonably solid looking east pulse arriving and lasting for 2-3 days… but that’s a very long way out, so I’m not circling it on the calendar just yet.
Have yourself a top old Wednesday everybody!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred south of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast today, directing south to southeasterly winds over coastal waters. Winds will gradually shift northeasterly during today and Thursday as the high moves to the Tasman Sea and a trough approaches from the west. This trough will bring a weak westerly change to the coast late Friday or early Saturday, gradually becoming east to northeasterly on Sunday as a new high over the Tasman Sea becomes dominant.
