Swell piling in this morning

0 27

Hello Friends,

A grey start to the day, but as the pictures show, the swell arrived overnight and this morning started with 8-10 kts of westerly wind. The sets are solidly overhead and while it looks kind of raw, there are definitely a few makeable ones in the mix at the point. Size on the bigger ones is solidly overhead, so this is definitely not a morning at Dee Why for anyone other than the most experienced and fit riders.

Swell at sea was 3.4 metres from 155° at 12 seconds apart as of 0840. Tide was low at 0820 and will be back to high at 1435, by which time the wind is expected to be southerly. We should see a high of 22C along the beaches today with partly cloudy skies. Water is clean and 20C.

Tomorrow is shaping to be southerly from the get-go, so you’ll be looking for a protected corner if you’re keen.

Go well one and all!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred to the south of the Bight extends a ridge into western New South Wales, while a deep low lies over the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern will remain relatively unchanged for the next few days, directing vigorous southerly winds and a large southerly swell along the coast. The low is expected to gradually weaken and move away during the weekend, while the high drifts slowly east, bringing a gradual shift to northeasterly winds in the middle part of next week.
