How to watch Phillies vs. Athletics

When they return home Tuesday, the Phillies will face off against a team that also once called Philadelphia home.

The Athletics – formerly of Philadelphia, then Kansas City, then Oakland – are playing their second season in Sacramento while a more permanent home is constructed in Las Vegas. The A’s season is off to a solid start, as they are 18-16 through 34 games, with a talented young roster hoping to take the next step forward. They currently lead the AL West by two games.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 15-20, but they’ve played better as of late. Since Don Mattingly was named the team’s interim manager, the team has gone 6-1. Most recently, they took three out of four from the Marlins in Miami.

The Phillies – A’s rivalry is the closest either franchise has to a city series, and it has been a fairly even match-up since they first played each other in 2003. The Phillies are 16-14 all-time against the Athletics. Last May, the Phillies took two games out of three when they played a series in Sacramento.

These teams will play three consecutive night games at Citizens Bank Park. All three games will be broadcast locally. Here’s when and where you can watch the series on TV:

  • Tuesday, May 5, at 6:40 p.m. ET: NBC Sports Philadelphia
  • Wednesday, May 6, at 6:40 p.m. ET: NBC Sports Philadelphia
  • Thursday, May 7, at 6:40 p.m. ET: NBC Sports Philadelphia
