North corners this morning
Hello Friends,
Wind was NNE early so the north corners were looking clean. There is wind swell from the NE and set wave faces are occasionally getting into the head high range at the best exposures. But the period is around 6 seconds, so it’s tricky getting into them before they fade out – and you’re doing a fair amount of waiting too. Tide hit a modest 1.38 metre high at 0705 and will be back to low at 1255. By then the showers should be with us again. The ocean was rated clean by Beachwatch at most spots along the Sydney coast and temp is on 19C. Wind will go around to the NE soon, so the number of clean options will dwindle.
Outlook is for the wind, swell and showers to be pretty similar again tomorrow (ie cleaner early in north corners). Monday doesn’t look much better, but Tuesday currently is shaping to be (potentially) pretty good with light offshore wind, clearing skies and some solid 2 metre plus east swell. With luck it’ll last through Wednesday…
Go well with your Saturday everyone!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand and a low pressure trough over western New South Wales are combining to generate fresh north to northeasterly winds along the coast. Another trough is forecast to bring a brief southerly change to southern waters late today or Sunday. Meanwhile, a low is forecast to develop over the southeast Queensland coast today, which will then move south during Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, possibly generating stronger winds and hazardous surf conditions.
