Flatness for Monday

0 8

Hello Friends,

Today’s picture tells the (sad) story. We’re still waveless in the Dee Why bubble this windy and mild Monday morning. Skies were partly cloudy but the Bureau tells us we’re in for rain from this evening to Wednesday morning. Swell is still under a metre, coming from the NE and is currently only 5 seconds apart.

There isn’t any real hope for an improvement in the swell today, and while it’s going to ramp up into the potentially crazy big range at south magnets tomorrow, the weather and wind promise to be pretty wild. Wednesday currently is shaping to be the peak in swell energy as the swell potentially gets up to the 5 m mark. But it also looks like being very windy, so surf options may be limited. Right now the best prospects seem to be for Thursday and Friday when the swell throttles back a bit and the wind dials down.

We shall see!

Stay safe everyone, wear your mask and get your jabs!

Weather Situation

Northerly winds are strengthening ahead of the cold front that will cross the southern half of the coast during the latter half of today, and this front will continue to move through the remainder on Tuesday, with a strong south to southwesterly change across the southern and central coastal waters and a westerly change elsewhere in the wake. The winds will further strengthen to gale during the latter part of Tuesday as a low pressure system forms around the central coastal waters and deepens. Winds will gradually ease during the mid week as the low slowly drifts east.
