Dee Why bubble

0 19

Hello Friends,

First day of the 5 km travel limit for Sydneysiders. We have sunny skies this morning, but there’s still a fair amount of smoke haze off to the NW from RealSurf HQ. Down at Dee Why beach, things look relatively clear and for the lucky folks in the bubble, there are some softish but rideable and clean little lines coming in. Size on the occasional sets looks to be in the waist to maybe chest-ish range. Out at sea, the buoy is detecting 1.5 metres of 14 second swell from the SSE (154°). Wind down at North Head was 9-10 kts from the west as we head to a high of 21C along the coast today. Tide was low at 0700 and will be back to a 1.56 m high at 1330.

The swell models don’t offer much joy for tomorrow, but then again, none of them are showing the long period component we’re seeing this morning. So, who knows, maybe it won’t be the near lake like conditions they project for Monday. The good news is that it looks as though we should see a straight south pulse in the 2 to 2 and a bit range from Tuesday through Wednesday – with SW to W wind. So, that’s good.

Stay safe, mask up when you’re out and keep your interactions with others to a minimum for the next few weeks. Who knows, maybe we can dial the infection rate back as the vaccine supplies really ramp up at long last. Book your jab asap, as ultimately, that’s the only way out of this.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea while a trough near the northern New South Wales coast continues to weaken. Northwesterly winds will increase this evening ahead of the passage of a cold front, which will bring a southwesterly change to coastal waters during Monday. After this, a new high pressure system near the Bight will maintain southerly winds until the middle of the week when the high reaches the Tasman Sea.
