Too small to surf at Dee Why Sunday morning

Hello Friends, A beautiful sunny morning in Sydney but there are no waves to speak of. Swell at sea was 0.9m at 14 seconds from the SSE and wind was coming from the north at 10-15kts. Weather should be sunny all day as we head to a high of 20°C.

Hello Friends, Swell faded back steadily yesterday and overnight with the consequence that it was getting toward flat at lots of places by first light on Saturday. That said, there were still a few catchable bumps for the dawn patrol.

Hello Friends, Bitterly cold this morning and raining too. Wind stayed SW, so there were reasonably clean surface conditions at Manly late this morning when I checked. Dee Why was lumpier and stormy looking but as the pic above shows, there were occasional waves to be had at the point.

Hello Friends, Little lines coming in and 10-15 kts of WSW wind as of 0930. Swell’s dialled back as expected and was 1.8 m at 10 seconds from the SE this morning. That meant inconsistent waist to waist plus sets at Dee Why.

Hello Friends, Swell and surface conditions have tidied up overnight and this morning saw 8-10 kts of westerly fanning an incoming 2 metre 11-second SE swell. Tide was high at 0645 and will be back to low at 1220.

Hello Friends, Monday started with passing showers, light westerly wind and 3.7 metres of 14-15 second SE swell out at sea. Despite the wind smoothing the surface, the swell was looking lumpy and messy, although big.

Hello Friends, Give it a miss. There’s 4 metres of 14 second SSE swell, but it’s getting smashed by 25-35 kts of SSE wind. Plus, it’s grey and rainy. Maybe tomorrow…if the wind swings as predicted Go well!

Hello Friends, Up early for a run into the city, so not back to the beach until 9ish. As you can see from the pics, Dee Why had waves. These of course were what the sets looked like. It was pretty consistent at the beach, but much less so at the point.

Hello Friends, Wind was west at 12-18 kts as of 0900 and swell at sea was 2.5 metres at 10 seconds from the SE. No one caught a wave while I was taking pictures, but I’d say wave faces on the bigger ones would be in the head plus range.
