Yankees Running the Bases Like Drunks Featuring Anthony Rizzo
I mean, sure at times announcers who are getting up there in age and aren’t ready to call it quits can be a tough listen, but how can you not appreciate their honesty and disgust when they don’t have any fucks left to give. That was the case Tuesday night during Game of the ALCS as John Sterling was in the radio booth for the Yankees and had enough of New York’s awful base running.
The Yankees have made several base running mistakes throughout the 2024 season and they were guilty multiple times against the Cleveland Guardians in the sixth inning on Tuesday. The Yankees were hanging on to a 3-2 lead, but were threatening to extend their advantage after Jazz Chisholm Jr. doubled to begin the inning and then Anthony Volpe walked. Two runners and no outs, you’re thinking big inning. However, Chisholm Jr. was picked off of second base.
Luckily for the Yankees, Anthony Rizzo still delivered a double to right field that ultimately scored Volpe following a fielding error. But once again the Yankees committed a base-running mistake and this time Sterling dropped an amazing line after Rizzo was tagged out between second and third.
