Haason Reddick holdout from Jets: How much money has the edge rusher lost?

0 4

When the New York Jets traded for Haason Reddick in April, they thought they’d have him on the field this time of year applying pressure to quarterbacks.

Instead, Reddick has been a holdout from the team since his arrival (or non-arrival), and his stay away from the team is now extending into Week 2 of the regular season.

Reddick won’t play in Sunday’s game game against the Tennessee Titans, forfeiting another $800,000 in salary and brining his total losses this season to $8 million, according to ESPN. That includes money lost to fines, unearned salary and bonus forfeiture.

If the hold out lasts through the season, Reddick can lose up to $21.75 million. That’s $14.25 million in base salary, $4.5 million in fines and $3 million in bonus forfeiture.

Whether the holdout last that long remains to be seen, but it doesn’t seem likely to end anytime soon with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting Sunday the sides aren’t anywhere close to a deal.
