Man Utd’s 100th Premier League scorer who netted on his only appearance wakes up unemployed aged 28

THE MAN who became Manchester United’s 100th scorer in the Premier League is now without a club.

Josh Harrop achieved the feat in 2017 when he netted against Crystal Palace thanks to a Paul Pogba assist in his one and only appearance.

It made him the 100th player to score in the Premier League for United – excluding own goals.

But Harrop left Old Trafford – where he came through the youth system – the same year as his one and only United goal.

He joined Preston North End, where he stayed until 2022, with loans at Ipswich and Fleetwood in between.

The attacker, 28, went on to join Northampton Town before moving to Cheltenham in January on a short-term contract.

But the EFL side – who were relegated to League Two – confirmed Harrop is one of four to leave now the season is over.

They posted online: “Jamie Pardington, Josh Harrop, Greg Sloggett and Liam Smith will also depart the club this Summer.

“Thank you lads and best of luck with what comes next!”

Harrop’s career has been hampered with injuries, which have contributed to his moving between teams.

The former United prospect first made the decision to leave his boyhood club in search of regular football.

He said at the time: “That wasn’t guaranteed at United, even though they offered me a new contract it was very limited in game time and so I couldn’t take that risk at my age.

“I need to be out there, proving myself and doing what I know I’m capable of.

“It’s a big thing for me to leave United after the number of years I have been there, but I am confident in my ability and know it’s the right decision.”
