Gary Neville insists Liverpool’s title run-in is EASIER than Man City’s… because next opponents Man Utd are ‘APPALLING’
GARY NEVILLE claimed Liverpool have an easier title run-in than Manchester City – because their next opponents are the “appalling” Manchester United.
The Reds remain one point behind leaders City following the enthralling 2-2 draw at the Etihad.
And with seven games apiece remaining, both sides will believe they can lift the trophy on May 22.
On paper, Pep Guardiola’s side appear to have a simpler set of fixtures.
They face Wolves (A), Brighton (H), Watford (H), Leeds (A), Newcastle (H), West Ham (A) and Aston Villa (H).
Liverpool have United (H), Everton (H), Newcastle (A), Tottenham (H), Aston Villa (A), Southampton (A) and Wolves (H).

And Neville reckons that actually favours the Reds – despite three blockbuster Anfield matches.
The ex-Red Devils right-back said: “In the Premier League we’ve looked at City’s run-in and think, ‘That’s an easier run-in.’
“But actually that’s because historically we’re looking at a Merseyside derby and a Manchester United game that ordinarily in any other season would be quite tough.
“Those two teams, to be honest with you, are appalling at this moment in time so they could be easier than any of the teams City have got.

“Watford are fighting for their lives, Leeds still have to win games, Newcastle…
“Before the game we looked at that Liverpool run-in and thought, other than Tottenham, the rest of them are (not too bad)… you think it’s a tougher run-in but it’s not.”
Neville’s Sky Sports colleague and ex-City man Micah Richards replied: “But it is a tougher run-in though, isn’t it!”
But Neville continued: “I’d rather play Manchester United at home and Everton than West Ham away.”
Richards responded: “Man United vs Liverpool is still a massive game, no matter what.”

Neville replied: ‘You’re talking about historical performances and historical emotion. Have you watched Manchester United recently, Micah? You cannot bring that into it.”
United slipped to seventh in the table following the “disgraceful” 1-0 defeat to Everton and are now 23 points off leaders City – and crucially six off the Champions League spots.
