Warriors sign former Louisville swingman Sutton as rookie free agent
With training camp little more than a week away, the Warriors have agreed to sign undrafted rookie free agent Dwayne Sutton, a league source confirmed with the Bay Area News Group.
Sutton, 23, established himself as a two-way wing who can shoot, rebound and hustle during his three years at Louisville after transferring from UNC Asheville. As a senior, he averaged 9.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 50.5% overall and 35.4% from 3-point range en route to an All-ACC honorable mention.
Sutton’s signing, first reported by Yahoo Sports, is for a non-guaranteed contract that gives the Warriors 18 players heading into training camp, which starts the beginning of December. Golden State can carry up to 20 players through the preseason before having to trim the roster to 15 by the regular-season opener on Dec. 22.
A strong training camp performance by Sutton could put him in position to fill one of the Warriors’ pair of two-way roster spots.
