Snoop Dogg defended his scandalous Kansas show: 'The audience enjoyed that (expletive)'

The University of Kansas found itself in a self-inflicted PR nightmare this weekend when it booked rap legend Snoop Dogg to perform at the annual Late Night in the Phog and ended up apologizing when Snoop Dogg put on a Snoop Dogg concert.

Snoop Dogg took the court at Allen Fieldhouse and put on a show that included pole dancers, money guns (with fake money) and explicit lyrics.

In the wake of the recent Notice of Allegations from the NCAA that charged Kansas with various Level-1 violations, the optics of (faux) money around recruits and pole dancing wasn’t great. But the subsequent apologies from Bill Self and athletic director Jeff Long arguably made Kansas look like a program that didn’t even know what a Snoop Dogg concert entailed.

Snoop Dogg, though, took Kansas’ apology as a knee-jerk response to the backlash. He said that everyone had a great time and that Kansas knew what it paid for.

Snoop Dogg said in a Tuesday appearance on The Howard Stern Show, via TMZ:

“The audience enjoyed that (expletive). I don’t know what the (expletive) they talking about.”

Stern asked Snoop about being asked to leave after the performance … which he denies.

“That’s a mother(expletive) lie. I had the time of my life. I enjoyed myself, hung out with the basketball teams.”

Snoop continued:

“I think it was more the publicity of what I did. they had to cover it up. And, I respect them, and I wasn’t gonna put no smut on their name and say they did anything wrong because they invited me to come do what I do.”

“And, when you pay for Snoop Dogg, you gon’ get Snoop Dogg.”

That they did.
