[Softball] Patriots rally for extra inning win
Kaylee James doubled down the rightfield line to score the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th and the University of the Cumberlands posted a 5-4 victory over Georgetown College in the opening game of the Mid-South Conference Softball Championships here Friday morning at Michael O. Buchanon Park.
The Cumberlands (16-32) advances to take on Campbellsville University at 5 p.m. on Friday while Georgetown College falls into loser's bracket to face Cumberland University, also at 5 p.m.
Pinch-hitter Amber Hiller reached on an error with one out in the 11th and went to second on a bunt by Cassandra Johnson. James then lined a double down the rightfield line, scoring pinch-runner Elisa Mauldin with the winning run.
