[Softball] Banks named Academic All-District for third straight year

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom and College of Saint Mary's Brittney Banks (SR/Elkhorn, Neb.) has earned the honor.

Banks was one of just two Great Plains Athletic Conference student-athletes to be named to the 12-athlete list in District 3. Banks has a 3.95 GPA and is studying Occupational Therapy at CSM. She finished the season with a .392 batting average and started 45 games for the Flames. She tallied 56 hits – including 17 doubles and eight home runs.

District 3 includes all NAIA athletes from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Jordan Van Roy of Doane University was the GPAC's other representative on the team.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June. Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams will be announced as following: June 3 (NAIA), June 4 (NCAA Division III), June 5 (NCAA Division II) and June 6 (NCAA Division I).

Banks was named to the NAIA All-America team last year and this is the third year she's been named All-District.
