Police renewed their search for the gunman who killed two Brown University students and wounded nine others after they released a person of interest they had detained. The shooting occurred as students were taking final exams. Authorities said late Sunday that they released a man they had detained earlier in the day because the evidence pointed elsewhere. His release left law enforcement without a known suspect, as officials pledged to redouble their efforts by asking Providence residents and businesses for any surveillance footage that might help identify the attacker. On Sunday evening, city leaders, residents and others gathered at a park to honor the victims.
