ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County District Attorney's Office (ACDA) announced that 35-year-old Dayshon Miller was sentenced to eight years in state prison for his role in a drive-by shooting last year. The Albany man pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators determined that on September 5, 2024, a car occupied by Miller being driven by Nashala Turner became engaged in an exchange of gunfire with Michael Brodie of Albany, who was walking near First Street and Lexington Avenue. Albany Police later confirmed that a bystander was caught in the crossfire and endured a non-life-threatening bullet graze to the chest.

During the ensuing investigation, detectives identified Miller and Turner as suspects in the shooting, leading to law enforcement executing a search warrant at the couple's Washington Avenue apartment on October 30, 2024. Officers recovered a loaded handgun with Miller's DNA on it amid the search, resulting in their arrests.

According to the ACDA, Broadie was later arrested after reportedly being involved in a shootout with Troy Police in December 2024. He's slated to appear in Albany County Court on December 8 in a weapon and narcotics trial.

In addition to his prison term, Miller was ordered by Judge William Little to serve five years of probation following his release. Turner's sentencing is scheduled for November 13.
