Woman injured in Albany shooting
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A woman was injured in a shooting on Albany Street near Broadway early Wednesday morning. Albany Police said it happened around 12:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers reported finding evidence consistent with gunfire, but no victim at the scene. Albany Memorial Hospital staff later notified police of a 24-year-old woman that came into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her lower back.
The Albany Police Department found that the victim and several other people were involved in a physical altercation where someone fired a round from a handgun, shooting the victim. She drove herself to Albany Memorial Hospital before she was transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital.
The victim is listed in stable condition and no one is currently in custody, per the police department. Officers are still investigating and ask anyone with information on this incident to contact the department's detective division at (518) 462-8039.
