East Columbus bar shuttered in 2022, sued by city for illegally reopening, shootings
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An east Columbus bar has been shut down due to alleged repeated acts of violence and violations after reopening illegally earlier this summer.
According to the City Attorney’s Office, an illegal bar located at 5200 Riding Club Lane, that has been known by several different names, has been shuttered after a temporary restraining order was secured by the Columbus Property Action Team.
The bar has gone by the names "PKWY Lounge & Grill", “Atlantis Grill & Sports Bar”, “LV Lounge” and “De La Soul” and has a history of violent crime and liquor law violations. The Shady Lane neighborhood bar was also the site of two recent shootings, the City Attorney’s Office said.
In 2022, the city filed a lawsuit against 5600 Naiche LLC and prior tenants of the property. The case alleged public nuisance conditions, including shootings, fights, stabbings, criminal damage and noise violations.
At that time, the business was also operating without a proper liquor license and had been subject to more than 60 reported crimes. For an earlier report on this story view the video player above.
The following January, the city filed a motion for contempt and requested an emergency hearing due to continued criminal activity and violations of the court order. This was later withdrawn, as the premises voluntarily closed.
In 2025 the Columbus Division of Police began receiving calls at the same property. Officers responded to reports of two shootings, shots fired, and other disturbances. The City Attorney’s Office said 14 complaints have been received since June 2025.
In July, officers responded to the scene in which security guards were reportedly carrying assault rifles and spraying mace into the air around a crowd and threatening people. While police were conducting a traffic stop believed to be related to the incicent, police heard shots fired from the direction of the property.
Later that month, police received a call that employees at the bar, which reportedly still does not have a legal liquor license, were serving alcohol to minors.
On Aug. 1, police were patrolling the area after discovering a publicized event at the bar. Shots were heard coming from the area and three people, including two juveniles, were found with gunshot wounds.
A follow-up hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20.
