ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A Patterson man was arrested in connection with Bayou Vista Shooting, deputies said.

Courtland Fullwood, 17, of Patterson was arrested and charged with principal to attempted second degree murder on July 31.

On Saturday night, deputies said they were dispatched to Cane Street in Bayou Vista in response to a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that three victims had been struck by gunfire. The individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment, deputies said.

According to deputies, during the investigation Fullwood was identified as someone who allegedly was involved in the incident. Then a warrant was obtained for Fullwood for the charge of principal to attempted second-degree murder.

Yesterday, detectives made contact with Fullwood and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $500,000.

News 10 spoke with Lt. David Spencer with St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office about the investigation and the arrest of Fullwood.

Reason to believe he was not the only one involved in in that shooting in that incident. So we're still working on that." Spencer said. "It's always mixed emotions when you arrest somebody that's that young. On one hand, you know, solving a crime, finding out and holding people responsible is a good part. The other side, the human side of us looks at it that they're so young, you know, don't do these things that will have lasting effects on you, you know, for years to come."

The investigation is currently ongoing.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-828-1960 or submit a tip via the SMPSO website then click here.
