Victim of fatal Schenectady shooting identified

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Schenectady. The incident took place just before 3:30 p.m. on April 23 near 1807 Van Vranken Avenue.
Officers arriving to the area on Wednesday found 36-year-old Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. of Schenectady, who had been shot in the torso. He later died from his injuries at Ellis Hospital.
Schenectady Police announced on Wednesday night that the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute and is currently being investigated as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives by calling (518)382-5245 or the department's tip line at (518)788-6566.
