Schenectady PD provides update on Northend Drive shooting
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady Police Department held a press conference on Friday about Thursday's shooting on Northend Drive. One person was killed and another was injured in the shooting, which happened around 7:20 p.m.
When police arrived on scene, they heard gunshots coming from inside the home. A woman came out of the home with a gunshot wound to her torso and hand. A man was found inside with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead while the woman was taken to the hospital.
Schenectady PD believes this was a domestic incident. The man has now been identified as Donald Rickson, 44, of Schenectady. Police said he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The woman is currently at a local hospital and believed to be in stable condition. She is not being identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
