Weezer Bassist Says His Wife Is “Alright” After Shooting
Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, author Jillian Lauren Shriner, has been arrested for attempted murder after pointing a gun at police officers on Wednesday.
What happened, according to the New York Times, was that Los Angeles police were pursuing suspects from a nearby hit-and-run in the neighborhood of Eagle Rock. They ended up on a random property, apparently near where the Shriner’s home is, and allegedly saw Jillian armed with a handgun in her yard. According to a press release put out by the Los Angeles Police Department, officers asked her to drop the weapon, which was reportedly pointed at them, “numerous times.” When she refused, they shot at her. She was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to her shoulder and taken into custody. Her bail was set at $1 million, and she was released on bond Wednesday night.
This whole situation is pretty distressing and bizarre, but Scott appears to be in good spirits. Paparazzi caught up with him while he was out walking their four dogs to ask how his wife was doing. “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” he told TMZ. They kept pestering him for answers about Jillian’s well-being, prompting him to repeatedly say “I can’t comment on that.” He finally ended their interaction by saying “See you at Coachella!” while walking up his driveway. Well, okay then!
Weezer was added to Coachella’s lineup fairly recently, and the band is still set to play at the festival on Saturday afternoon. The show must go on, I guess.
