One injured in Friday shooting, Opelousas police say

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- The Opelousas Police Department is urging the public to come forward with information about a Friday shooting that left one person injured.

Opelousas police said in a news release that officers went to the 800 block of W. Cherry Street on Friday in response to a reported shooting. Shortly later, police were notified of a "male subject" at the Opelousas General Hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound to the arm.

The victim's age was not provided in the news release.

Police said the victim's injuries are non-life-threatening and they are expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Opelousas Police Department at 337-948-2500.

Information can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 337-948-TIPS or via email at crimetips@opelousaspd.com.

Tipsters may be able to receive a cash reward of up to $2500 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of those responsible.
