Breaux Bridge man charged with attempted murder in connection with Lafayette shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A Breaux Bridge man has been arrested in connection with a shooting stemming from a Lafayette bar fight in February, authorities said.

Jamar Showers, 30 of Breaux Bridge, is charged with attempted first degree murder and illegal use of weapons.

Police said Showers engaged in a physical altercation with another person in a parking lot of a bar located in the 200 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway on Feb. 24. Afterward, the victim left the area, heading south on Ambassador Caffery.

While driving the victim noticed a gray Dodge truck in the lane to the right of him. A man hanging out of the rear driver’s side window began firing multiple shots at him, police said. The victim was not injured but his vehicle had four bullet holes.

Police said Showers was identified as the shooter in this incident and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Thursday by Carencro Police, who responded to a domestic incident involving Showers and discovered the oustanding warrant.

Bond details were not released.
