Albany man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2022 shooting

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in connection to a 2022 shooting death, according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office. Sadiem Wood, 35, now faces seven and a half to 15 years in state prison when he is sentenced in June.

The original indictment alleged that on August 2, 2022, Wood caused the death of Kareem Collier on Central Avenue in Albany. He was additionally accused of having a loaded illegal firearm at the time.

Wood was initially charged with second-degree murder, second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned last January and his sentencing is scheduled for June 4.
