Big second-half rally, Khalil Shabazz’s perfect shooting from field lift USF

Khalil Shabazz made all 10 of his shots from the field, including six 3-pointers, to score a career-high 32 points and USF rallied for an 83-82 victory over visiting BYU on Saturday.

The Dons (15-7, 4-3 WCC) trailed by 14 with just under 16 minutes left, then went on a 21-0 run that included 10 points from Shabazz and six from Jamaree Boyea, who finished with23 points on 10-of-15 shooting.

TJ Haws made a steal and reverse layup to get the Cougars (15-7, 4-3) within two with just under a minute to go, but two free throws by Shabazz, and two more from Jordan Ratinho allowed USF to hold off BYU, which got a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The only shot Shabazz missed was at the free-throw line where he was 6-for-7.

Haws started his school-record 123rd consecutive game.

St. Mary’s 73, Loyola Marymount 62: Tanner Krebs had 19 points as the Gaels (18-4, 5-2) topped the host Lions (8-13, 2-5).

San Jose State 90, Air Force 81: Seneca Knight had 20 points as the visiting Spartans defeated the Falcons. Brae Ivey added 17 points for San Jose State (7-14, 3-6 Mountain West Conference) while Lavelle Scottie had 25 points for Air Force (9-12, 3-6).

Santa Clara 65, San Diego 52: Josip Vrankic had 20 points as the Broncos beat the host Toreros. Jalen Williams had 11 points for Santa Clara (17-5, 4-3 WCC). DJ Mitchell added eight rebounds. James Jean-Marie had 14 points and three blocks for the Toreros (8-14, 1-6).

Women

San Diego 54, USF 50: Mikayla Williams scored a game-high 16 points, but the Dons (7-14, 0-9 WCC) fell to the host Toreros (12-8, 6-3).
