U.S. Open champion Jeongeun Lee6 leading again

Jeongeun Lee6 got right back to work after winning the U.S. Women’s Open last weekend, shooting an 8-under-par 63 in Galloway, N.J., to grab a share of the lead after the opening round in the ShopRite LPGA Classic on Friday.

Lee6 had an eagle and nine birdies to go with three bogeys. Her two-putt birdie at her last hole, the par-5 ninth, moved her into a tie for first with Pornanong Phatlum of Thailand.

• Brandt Snedeker tied the Canadian Open record with a 10-under 60 as an early starter, and was one stroke behind co-leaders Matt Kuchar and Scott Brown after two rounds in Ancaster, Ontario. Kuchar and Brown, playing in the afternoon, went low, too, shooting 7-under 63s and finishing the round at 12-under.

WNBA: Natasha Cloud scored 26 points and the visiting Washington Mystics beat the New York Liberty 94-85. The Liberty have lost 17 consecutive games dating to last season. ... Natalie Achonwa had 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists to help the Indiana Fever beat the visiting Dallas Wings 79-64.

NFL: The Texans fired general manager Brian Gaine fewer than 18 months after he took the job. The Texans went 11-5 in Gaine’s one season in charge.

• The Jets agreed to terms with Joe Douglas to be their general manager. Douglas was the Eagles’ vice president of player personnel. The Jets also agreed to terms with running back Bilal Powell, bringing back the franchise’s 10th-leading rusher after a neck injury cut his season short last year.

• A Kansas prosecutor says he is no longer investigating a criminal case against Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill involving injuries to his 3-year-old son. Johnson County Attorney Steve Howe said he would reconsider his decision if new evidence emerges. Hill has been...
