Troy boys' basketball edges Shenendehowa

Not even a concerted push over the final four minutes Friday was enough to overcome the ills that plagued the Shenendehowa boys' basketball team against Troy.
The Plainsmen (5-5, 4-3 league) turned over the ball on three of their first four possessions, on the final two chances of the game and a whole lot in between.
Troy's senior backcourt combination of shooting guard Latyce Faison and point guard Nazaire Merritt combined to score 50 points, including 12 3-pointers, as the Flying Horses registered a 60-56 Suburban Council road victory.
"This is a big one," Merritt said. "I think coming in, probably everyone expected Shen to win. Coming in here and beating a top team gives us confidence for sectionals.
