[Women's Basketball] Cavs on the Mark in AAC Win

MONTREAT, NC – A return to a backing crowd at McAlister Gym proved just what the Montreat Cavaliers women's basketball team needed as they defeated Truett McConnell, 77-66, on Saturday afternoon. Montreat (6-14, 4-10) had their best afternoon of shooting this year as they made 70% from the foul line, 57% from the floor, and 46% from beyond the arc.

Leading the way was Niroshka "Nini" Perez (SR/Asheville, NC) with 17 points, including 5-8 shooting from the field. Perez connected on 4-7 from three-point range. Hannah Calloway (SR/Asheville, NC) was also effective from long range, hitting on a trio of three-pointers and putting up 11 points against the Bears. Katie Dillon (JR/Charlotte, NC) had 14 points, including four threes, and also had three steals. 

Jasmine Dixon (SR/Raleigh, NC) had six points and a rebound for the Cavs, with Camilla Drake (SO/Hickory, NC) adding six and pulling down two rebounds. Sienna Hicks (SO/Greenville, SC) had five points and played her typical night of effective defense. 

TMU (3-16, 1-14) guard Anna Murr led the Bears with 14 points.

In closer to the basket, Dillon grabbed eight rebounds, while Jala Daniels had eight boards to go with her four points. Sierra Brown (SO/Ellenwood, GA) put in eight points for Montreat, while Arianna Williams (JR/Lawrenceville, GA) scored six, stole two, had six assists, and grabbed five rebounds.

With the win, Montreat captured its third consecutive win at home, the first time they've done that since late 2016.

Next Up: The Cavs have a short turnaround as they play Bluefield College (10-8, 7-6) at McAlister on Monday night at 5:30 p.m.
