[Women's Basketball] Threshers grind out 58-52 victory at York

YORK, Neb. - The Bethel Threshers (9-9, 5-7) moved back to a .500 record yesterday after defeating the York Panthers (1-16, 0-12) in a 58-52 affair. The Threshers struggled shooting the rock all night but more than made up for it on defense and at the free-throw line. Bethel tallied a season-best 31 free-throws while swatting away seven shots. The trio of Alex Bearup (SO/Wichita, Kan.), Abby Schmidt (JR/Newton, Kan.), and Melinda Vargas (FR/El Paso, Texas) each scored in double-figures, while Bearup and Schmidt also recorded double-doubles to help Bethel collect the victory.
