UK 29er Class National Squad and Transition Group Selection Policy 2018/19

1. Class National Squad - UK 29er Class Head Coach Niall Myant (5 weekends £550, coach: sailor ratio 1:4)

Eligible boy pairs: all boy teams in the Class Rolling Ranking List excluding RYA National Youth Squad (or training alongside) and who are ranked in the top 20 at either GP1 or in the Rolling Ranking after GP1.

Eligible girls or mixed pairs: all girl or mixed teams in the Class Rolling Ranking List excluding RYA National Youth Squad (or training alongside) and who are ranked in the top 25 at either GP1 or in the Rolling Ranking after GP1.

There will be no discretion available to the 29er Committee members in allocating spaces.

Boats will be selected using the criteria below:

• Up to 12 eligible pairs will be selected on the basis of their results from the first GP WPNSA 22/23rd September 2018 and position in the rolling ranking after GP1.
• The first half of places will be offered to the highest placed eligible crews in the rolling ranking after GP1. Half of these will be offered to the highest placed boy crews and half to the highest placed mixed/girl crews.
• The remaining half of the places will be offered to eligible crews with the highest placing in GP1. Half of these will be offered to the highest placed boy crews and half to the highest placed girl / mixed crews.
• If the places per gender group are not allocated from either the GP or the rolling ranking then the places will be offered to the next eligible pair with the highest placing in GP1 subject to a threshold on the ranking of top 25 if all girls / mixed and top 20 if all boys. The ranking list threshold is in place to ensure that the sailors invited are of a comparable ability to enable the training to be delivered to a high quality.

2. Transition Group - Head Coach Crispin Beaumont (5 weekends £550, coach to sailor ratio 1:4)

Eligible boy pairs: all boy teams excluding RYA National Youth Squad (or train alongside) or CNS
Eligible girl pairs: all girl or mixed teams excluding RYA National Youth Squad (or train alongside) or CNS

Between 6-10 boats will be selected using the criteria below:

• Previous sailing results (junior classes.)
• Performance over either Academy weekend 15/16th September or GP1 22/23rd September (boats must attend at least one of these weekends to be considered for selection.)
