Pontypridd v St Albans – Matchday Preview
Next up for Pontypridd RFC is the final game in the team’s 2025 pre-season schedule against St Albans RFC. The match takes place at Sardis Road this Saturday 30th August and kicks off at the slightly earlier than usual time of 1:30pm. The reason for the early kick off is because Saturday will also be a double-header with the two clubs’ Youth sides playing as well. The kick-off time for Ponty Youth and St Albans Youth is 3:30pm.
Pontypridd and The Buns met in pre-season last year, nearly a year to the day on Saturday 31st August, and it was Ponty who claimed a 52-20 win. Current players Dan Cotterell, Kian Mattravers and Jude Williams were amongst the Pontypridd try scorers twelve months ago.
St Albans enjoyed a successful 2024/25 campaign finishing second in Division 2 East Central having only been promoted into that league the previous season.
Pontypridd head into this Saturday’s match having won away at Tenby United over the weekend, whilst St Albans lost at home against Cardiff two Saturdays ago. This week’s match will be the last chance for the Ponty coaching and management team to run their eye over the playing squad ahead of the club’s upcoming Welsh Premiership campaign.
SUPPORTER INFORMATION:
Tickets – This Saturday’s admission prices will be £5 each for adults, £3 for concessions and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased on the day and supporters will be able to pay via cash or card.
Ground opening – The stadium and Sardis Road clubhouse will be open from 11:30am onwards, and at 12:30pm we will be showing live coverage of Chelsea v Fulham in the Premier League on our screens.
Pontypridd Youth – As has been mentioned, Pontypridd Youth will be playing their St Albans counterparts following the senior match, the youth kicks off at 3:30pm
