Raikes & Stuckey Testimonial Matchday Preview
Next up Pontypridd RFC kick-off their pre-season preparations with their first 15-a-side match ahead of the 2025/26 season, and the match is a special one. This Saturday 2nd August it’s the testimonial match for two current Pontypridd stalwarts Joel Raikes and Dale Stuckey – the Raikes & Stuckey Select XV will be playing Pontypridd RFC at Sardis Road with a 2:30pm kick-off.
Joel and Dale are currently the two longest serving players at the Club – Joel made his Ponty bow on the 6th October 2012 and Dale made his debut on the 27th September 2014, but the pair of them actually joined the Club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2014 and both are double-centurions for Pontypridd appearances.
As a Club we are absolutely delighted to be able to both recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions that they have both made during their time at Sardis Road. There is going to be lots going on prior to, during and after Saturday’s match and we have got all the information you need in this article.
In terms of team news, we will be announcing the names who’ll be representing the Raikes & Stuckey Select XV in our Match Preview later in the week, watch this space…
SUPPORTER INFORMATION:
Pre-Match Q&A – Early afternoon prior to kick-off there will be a Q&A in the Clubhouse with three other Ponty legends Dafydd Lockyer, Rhys Shellard and Ceri Sweeney – the price for this is £20 per person and will also include your match ticket and lunch (pork, beef and ham rolls). There are still a limited amount of tickets still available for the Q&A and lunch which starts at 1:15pm – please contact either Joel on 07890266927 or Dale on 07791539520 to get yours now.
Curtain Raiser – Before the main match, Ynysybwl U7s and U8s will be playing a mixed tag match as a curtain raiser on the Sardis Road pitch.
Tickets – A ‘normal’ match ticket will be £10 each for adults and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased on the day and supporters will be able to pay via cash or card.
BBQ – On the day there will be a BBQ available both during and after the match.
Live Band, Auction and Raffle – In the Clubhouse after the match there will be both an auction and a raffle where supporters can bid on/buy tickets for a range of different items. The auction and raffle will all be finished in time for live local band One Foot Indie Grave to come on and entertain you all from 7pm onwards – we’d love you all to stay and celebrate with the players of both teams.
Important Information Regarding The Ground And Clubhouse – As is customary on a matchday the stadium will be open from midday onwards, but the Clubhouse will initially be closed due to the Q&A event taking place. But don’t worry, the Graham Gittins Lounge will be open for supporters to enjoy refreshments and then as soon as the Q&A session has finished the Clubhouse will then be open for all supporters as usual.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in attendance this Saturday to celebrate the Pontypridd RFC careers of Joel Raikes and Dale Stuckey.
