Its probably this type of statement that causes my hackles to rise, whether its your intention or not. I can confidently assert that all of us want to win a Grand Final, we do NOT want mediocrity. We have not HAD mediocrity for the most part over the last 12 or so years, but we have fallen short. A lot of posts on here are trying to analyse why we have fallen short while still taking account of real life conditions.
I have supported Wire since mid 70's and trust me when i say i recognise mediocrity when i see it. You may not realise how grating it is for a life long supporter to be told that they accept mediocrity and that that is (probably) reflected in the club's hierarchy. If it irks me I can only imagine how galling it must be to someone like Simon Moran who has invested significant amounts in the club seeking that elusive GF.
It sure isn't now! As I've said before we haven't fulfilled our potential with GF, and reckon we'll be in a GF or two in the next decade, and will win one.
To keep rolling out the same phrase of "not accepting mediocrity" just smacks of impatience. Also, the here and now has got nothing to do with not winning a GF for nearly 60 years, as we can only look forward to either good times or bad, with how the club stands, currently. Someone mentioned Manchester City, who are still chasing that elusive champions league, despite the "perception" that they've thrown the most money at it. Who on this board would know, for sure, that we've spent more than any other club in the last decade?
If they did, then I'd be very interested to see their information. It might be true, but then again we could be behind Saints, Wigan, Leeds and Hull for all we know.
