Spanish League outfit sign Chelsea and Super Eagles star who is also wanted by Bursaspor

- Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo seals season long loan deal with CD Leganes

- The defender will be going on his fifth consecutive loan since since he joined Chelsea in 2012

- He won the 2013 AFCON title with the three time African champions

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has joined Spanish League outfit CD Leganes on a season long loan deal from his Premier League side Chelsea.

The 24-year-old spent the 2017-18 league season on loan at Turkish side, Kasimpasa - where he scored one goal in 28 appearances.

He was part of the Nigeria team that got crashed out of the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia in June.

However, this move will be his fifth consecutive loan move since he joined the Blues in 2012 from Standard Liege.

The club, after sealing the loan move with his parent club announced on their official website that the 24-year-old will be representing them in the new season kicking off this weekend.

"CD Leganés and Chelsea FC reach an agreement for the loan of Kenneth Josiah Omeruo for the next season.

"The international of Nigeria, who is 24 years old, will stay in CD Leganés during the 2018/19 season after playing in the Russia World Cup.

"Omeruo may play as centerback and rightback. Versatile defender with a powerful physique that allow him to have strong on the air.

"He was only 19 years old when left his country to play for Standard de Lieja. He signed for Chelsea in 2011 and later he played on loan in ADO La Haya, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor.

"He has also been 40 times an international player with the Nigerian team and has participated in two World Cups, the Confederations Cup and the African Nations Cup." Leganes wrote on their website.

Omeruo was also part of the late Stephen Keshi led team that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Chelsea on their site have also confirmed the news saying that: "Kenneth Omeruo will spend the 2018/19 season on loan at Leganes in the Spanish top flight.

"The 24-year-old central defender, who can also play at right-back, moved to Stamford Bridge from Standard Liege in 2012.

"Omeruo spent last season on loan at Turkish side Kasimpasa, where he made 28 appearances and was named in the Nigeria squad for this summer’s World Cup.

"He started two matches during the tournament, against Iceland and Argentina, and will now join La Liga side Leganes, who are managed by former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino."

The defender made his international debut in 2013 has has gone ahead to make 40 appearances for the three time African champions.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Turkish Super Lig club Bursaspor were interested in signing Super Eagles star Kenneth Omeruo who is also wanted by Spanish side Leganes.

The Green Crocodiles have been closely linked with a move for the Super Eagles center-back over the past month and Bursaspor vice-president has confirmed the clubs interest in Omeruo.

Meanwhile, the Spanish new media outlet AS has stated that the La Liga club Leganes are leading the race to sign 24-year-old this summer.
