Man Utd now "pushing hard" to sign £39m Brazilian star ahead of Atletico

0 14

Manchester United are ‘pushing hard’ to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson during the summer transfer window, according to Tuttosport.

The Red Devils are poised for a summer spending spree as they prepare to return to the Champions League for the 2026/27 campaign.

Tuttosport claim that United could sign a couple of midfielders. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba is the prime target for the Red Devils.

United are likewise keen on landing Ederson’s signature from Atalanta.

They are reportedly ‘pushing hard’ for his services, and it is claimed they could have the upper hand over Atletico in the pursuit of the player.

Atletico are only willing to pay £30 million for the 26-year-old, but Atalanta are holding out for at least £39 million to part ways with him.

The Serie A outfit have the belief that United will meet their valuation, having qualified for the Champions League after a two-season wait.

United could finally sign Ederson

The Brazil international has been a long-term target for the Red Devils. They were initially keen on landing him in 2024, but Atalanta were reluctant to sell.

The club went on to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain instead. The decision has not proved worthwhile with the Uruguayan yet to impress.

Ugarte has been positionally poor during his time at United, and he has played second fiddle to Casemiro for the majority of the ongoing league season.

Ederson would be a proper upgrade on the ex-PSG midfielder. He has a passing accuracy of almost 90 percent in Serie A with an average of 4.5 duels won.

The former Salernitana star has averaged five recoveries and two tackles per outing. He has likewise excelled with his tireless work rate and high pressing.

With just a year left on his contract, United may not meet the reported price tag upfront and could negotiate a lower price for him with future add-ons.

Atalanta believe United can offer a higher package than Atletico. They have a good working relationship with United, having previously sold Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo.
