The Nerazzurri confirmed the Argentine’s injury in an official statement on Friday: “Lautaro Martinez underwent clinical and instrumental examinations today at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano,” the Serie A table leaders said.
“The tests revealed a mild muscle strain in the soleus muscle of his left leg. The Argentine striker’s condition will be reassessed in the coming days.”
According to Sky Sport Italia, Lautaro will remain out of action for at least two weeks.
The Nerazzurri captain returned to action on Sunday after over a month, scoring two goals in a 5-2 win over Roma.
During Lautaro Martinez’s time on the treatment table due to another muscle problem, the Nerazzurri won two of seven games, drew three, and lost twice.
Inter are the Serie A table leaders with a seven-point lead over second-placed Napoli and seven rounds remaining.
Their next match is on Sunday, April 12, away against Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
Lautaro is the current Serie A top-scorer with 16 goals in 26 matches.
