Tottenham reveal what really happened to Mohammed Kudus in official injury statement
Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt another frustrating injury blow just as optimism was beginning to build ahead of Mohammed Kudus’ return.
Tottenham Hotspur will have been hoping to see their injury list ease ahead of this weekend’s clash with Sunderland, with as many as nine players currently doubts.
There had been hope that Mohammed Kudus would be the next to return after Igor Tudor confirmed a few weeks ago that the Ghana international was targeting a comeback following the international break.
Kudus had recently returned and was spotted in training earlier this week, before reports from outside the club claimed he had endured a setback ahead of the Sunderland clash that could even require surgery.
Tottenham confirm Mohammed Kudus injury setback ahead of Sunderland clash
The official Tottenham channels have now confirmed Kudus’ latest setback ahead of this weekend’s clash. In a post on X, the club issued an update on his condition, confirming the nature of the injury and the next steps.
The statement read: “We can confirm that Mohammed Kudus has suffered a setback in his return from injury.
“The Ghana international forward suffered a significant quad injury during our Premier League fixture against Sunderland in January.
“He had returned to team training during the past week, however will now require further specialist review and, potentially, surgery. We will provide any relevant further updates in due course. We are all with you, Mo.”
Spurs face a setback as Kudus is set to miss the rest of the season
Tottenham remain locked in a relegation battle and would have been hoping to welcome Kudus back for the run-in.
The Ghana international has been one of the creative hubs of this Spurs side, and his absence has coincided with a noticeable dip in form.
Spurs supporters have since voiced their frustrations following Kudus’ latest setback, with many fearing his absence could prove decisive in the club’s fight for survival.
There is now a strong possibility the right winger may not feature again this season, with reports also suggesting he is a doubt for this summer’s World Cup.
In fact, Kudus could already have played his final game of the campaign, with surgery still a possibility.
